Thanks for sharing this enlightening tidbit! I never thought to implement LVM in a raid setup, what an effective method. However, I found the stride calculations most enlightening.

Honestly before this post I didn’t know what a stride was, nor how to calculate it. Upon further research, the mke2fs man page isn’t much help either. I did however find another link that helps clarify things here: http://www.linux-archive.org/ext3-users/112579-stride-fwd.html

Ahh found the fault.

Forgot to set the execute attribute:
chmod +x raid

Do you have some other useful munin plugins to test the raid array or the disks?
